Health and Safety Advisor/Officer

Global Rail Services has an internal Safety Department that provides competent advice on safety, health, welfare, and environmental issues. We are currently seeking an experienced EHS Advisor to join our team, for a multi-site role, working on construction, telecom, and rail projects.

This role involves the provision of EHS support to management & project teams, collaborating with clients and others on EHS matters, and actively promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities for role are:

  • Conducting regular site audits/inspections to ensure Health and Safety compliance to Company and Clients procedures/rules
  • Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (railway operations, noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
  • Assist in the management of subcontractors on controlled sites
  • Assist in the initiation and organisation Health and Safety training of employees and executives
  • Inspect premises, sites, and the work of personnel to identify issues and record any non-conformity
  • Maintain incident and near misses reporting and follow up actions, identifying root causes and implementing changes to prevent reoccurrences
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to the management team
  • Reviewing the SWP’s (Safe Work Plans) for the tasks on sites and projects
  • Carry out Inductions and Toolbox Talks

Applicants should have the following:

  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in an on-site Health and Safety Officer position
  • Recognised Health and Safety qualification
  • Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificate
  • Previous experience in Construction as a Health and Safety Officer
  • Ability to work on own initiative and be innovative
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Legally permitted to live and work in Ireland
  • IE Personal Track Safety (PTS) (beneficial)
  • Previous Experience in Rail as a Health and Safety Officer (beneficial)
  • Proficient in app-based reporting systems (safety culture) (beneficial)
