Site Engineer/Graduate Engineer

Global Rail Services Ltd is part of the Global Infrastructure Group and is a leading Irish provider of design, construct and commission services for clients across a wide range of engineering and infrastructure sectors including mainline railway systems, light rail and utilities. General contracting and building work, including private housing developments, commercial and industrial building, is also offered by GRSL – as a separate division.

The company is a principal framework contractor across a number of disciplines, which include civil and structural engineering incorporating maintenance and renewal, building, mechanical, electrical and power, permanent way, telecoms and train on-board support services and provides a full test and commission service, for both Irish mainline and light rail applications.

We are currently seeking a Site Engineer/Graduate Engineer with 2+ years’ site engineering experience (beneficial).

Roles & Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Setting out according to design drawings
  • Supervising sub-contractors and site operatives
  • Completing as-built surveys
  • Liaising with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, quantity surveyors and site operatives
  • Liaising with tender teams, conducting site visits
  • Disseminating information from drawings, specifications, etc. to foremen, operatives, subcontractors, so that they clearly understand what is required
  • Checking plans and drawings to ensure all calculations are accurate
  • Making sure the materials used are as specified in the contract
  • Ensuring all work is carried out to the required high standard
  • Recording and reporting on work progress
  • Updating site diary and site documentation

Successful applicants will have the following:

  • A third level Engineering or Construction Management degree or equivalent
  • 2 + years’ site engineering experience (beneficial)
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD (beneficial)
  • Proficiency in all MS packages

Salary offered will depend on experience. A company vehicle or an allowance and phone and laptop will be provided
